Morrison-Kenyon Student Center
In 2007 Asbury College decided to transform the historic Morrison-Kenyon Library into a new state of the art student center.
Problem: The Student Center is the focal point for this college community and overlooks the center courtyard. The problem that the management team faced was the amount of heat and glare from the sun coming through the beautiful but very old windows. Each day, a good portion of the student center was getting an enormous amount of heat and sunlight through the giant windows overlooking the courtyard making much of the center unusable. The management team did not want to cover the windows because of the view, but something needed to be done. Eric C. McMillion, director of the project, called on the Window Butler to solve their problem.

Solution: The goals laid out by the management team at the Morrison-Kenyon Student Center renovation were simple:
- Maintain the view
- Cut down on the heat coming through the windows
- Create a more comfortable environment
- Protect the furnishings from fading
Window Butler installed samples to choose from and made the recommendation to install Slate 30, one of Panorama’s most popular sun control window films. This Panorama film has a soft, neutral, non-reflective look, blocks out 99% of the UV light, and rejects over 60% of the sun’s energy coming through the glass. In the Summer of 2007, the installation of over 4000 square feet of Panorama solar film was completed by Window Butler ’s installation team. |
